Even after taking precautionary measures which are rather extreme, such things just had to come after the alert was brought down to yellow.

Growing up

Yesterday, after waking up from an afternoon nap which I had with my mom in her room, she decided to ask a random question

Mama: Kak, next year you're turning 20 eh?
Me: Yes. Why?
Mama: Takdelah. Anak-anak mama makin lama makin besar, abe dah nak tinggalkan mama.
(It's nothing. Just that my children are growing up so fast, and soon enough, you wouldn't be staying with me anymore)
Me: Aper je mama ni. I'll be here with you forever!!
(Nonsense! I'll be here with you forever!!)

Awww......
It's very sad to hear my mom saying such things. Don't worry mother. I'll always and forever will be with you. :) I know I'm growing up and I also feel that time is moving too fast, but that doesn't change anything. I am forever your daughter.
LOVE U! :D

The next phase

Grey's Anatomy, Season 5, Episode 22, What a Difference a Day Makes:

The graduation speech:
Today's the day my life begins. Today I become a citizen of the world. Today I become a grown up. Today I become accountable to someone other than myself and my parents. Accountable for more than my grades. Today, I become accountable to the world. To the future. To all the possibilities that life has to offer. Starting today, my job is to show up, wide eyed and willing and ready. For what, I don't know. For anything. For everything. To take on life. To take on love. To take on the responsibility and possibility. Today, my friends, our lives begin. And I, for one, can't wait.

Taking a look back at how far I've come, I've never realised it took me 19 years to be where I am now and the funny thing is, I hadn't realised it has been 19 years.

The things people do just for education, and with no realisation of it at all.

Who would have thought I'd be the rightful owner of the diploma that I hold now. Despite the setbacks that I had to go through throughout the 3 years, it's all over now.

Alhamdulillah...

I started off being a nerd, with a haircut that looked like it was hanging from my roots like the bunga manggar that you see at malay weddings and WAY ABOVE my shoulder, the very "fashionable" spectacles with lens frames that have the outline of a semicircle and without having a mickey mouse on it, it won't do justice. Not forgetting the very popular Osh Kosh B'gosh that is a must-have in every kids wardrobe and of course, I was known amongst my family members to be the kid who is always wearing the hat, ANYWHERE I GO. The best thing is I didn't have to worry about not having enough money for anything. I'd constantly have pocket money.

And now, I've grown. Oh yes, I've grown alot. :D

At least I've come to my senses to dress up as a sane human being.
But now, I have to deal with my own bills..
My own shopping..
My own necessities..
My own name..

No need for anymore consent forms.

I guess this is where my life really starts.
Hello world! Are you ready for me?

Personality test

I went over to Amir's blog and he did a personality test. I thought it would be interesting to try it out and so I did. The results, were amazingly SPOT ON!

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
BINGO!

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
Gosh, who created this personality test? I'm having goosebumps.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
Spot on again!

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.
This is FREAKISHLY TRUE!

Who is your true self:
You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

Heartless

I don't understand how someone can be so heartless. 'Nuff said, I'll stop trying for now. Or maybe forever.

Thanks for actually forgetting about my graduation a day before, after I told you multiple times about it and when I was hoping you would come surprise me.

Anyways, congrats to Kris for winning American Idol. SUCK THAT ADAM LOVERS!! *inserts evil laughter here*

American Idol: The Final Showdown

American Idol is at the peak now since the 2 finalists has been announced on Thursday. I must say this year's season is full of talented contestants. It's something different every week and there is loads of surprises to look forward to.

When it came down to the final 3, I believe the fans and supporters had a hard time deciding on who to vote. It was down to Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. I believe this has got to be the 3 most hardest decisions to make.

Danny Gokey, who is btw my favourite, has got to be the most down-to-ea
rth contestant I've ever seen. I have to say his performance style is somewhat, normal but his voice is mesmerising. I loved his performance when he sang "September". His voice was damn sexy! It has a husky touch to it. I just love it. And for his final performance, I almost came down to tears with his rendition of "You are so beautiful". IT WAS SO SINCERE!!! I totally felt that he was actually singing from the heart. Haiz, Danny Gokey darling, it's okay. You may not win Idol but you're a winner to my heart. (HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH!!)

Adam Lambert is by far one of the most unexpected contestants. He comes out different each time. Though, on my personal opinion, I thought his style of singing gets annoying over time. Well, maybe he is great as a performer but as a recording artiste, I don't think he would go far. Well that's my personal opinion. I must say, his rendition of "One" was good. I had chills down my spine. Wooh!

Last but not least, Kris Allen, the cute bugger. Too bad he is married. I must say, he is very creative with his song renditions. I feel like he is very "Jason Mraz"-y, y'know, very much into acoustics the the sorts. I was torn between him and Danny but I still faved Danny because he has a unique voice, whereas Kris Allen is something which you would expect from someone who CAN sing. However, after listening to "Heartless", it blew me away. Totally. My jaw literally dropped when I heard him sing to that song. Nothing like Kanye West's version. So since Danny darling is out, my vote for Idol champion would be him, HANDS DOWN!

Now it's down to the finals! :D

Itching for something new

Yes yes. I've been rather complacent with my blog. My updates aren't as often as before. Just that sometimes when I want to update, when I actually come down to typing out the post, my mind goes blank. Alasan, much? Heh.

So what do I really do since I'm currently unemployed and sedap menghabiskan beras di rumah?

Facebook-ing, working out and job hunting of course.

(As I am typing this post, I'm busy switching tabs in my firefox window between facebook, other people's blogs and random websites for inspirations for a design I'm planning to do)

Ok I'm procrastinating but it gets so distracting sometimes. Especially around this hour when almost everyone on your MSN and Facebook list is online. With the constant quizzes and witty comments that are exchanged in Facebook, what's there not to be distracted about?!

About the working out bit, I'm not joking. To date, I've lost 5 kilos and hell yeah I'm proud of it. I feel so much healthier actually. It feels different. What did I do to shed the weight? Ok, I'm cheating rather because I'm undergoing slimming treatment at London Weight Management but not all the work is done by them. I'm on a strict diet, with carbs(rice) twice a week. I struggled like hell in the beginning. It was TORTURE! But I got through with it and now my body, mind and soul are nicely adjusted to the diet. Of course, diet alone won't help. I engage myself in sports like tennis and badminton. I can't do jogging coz it bores the hell out of me. LOL. Oh and not forgetting to stock up on the fluids in the body. VERY IMPORTANT!

I haven't had any luck with my job search. I've so far applied with the SPF and CAAS and so far, there are no responses. I've applied with MOE for relief teaching also, but still no response yet. I'm waiting for my graduation next Tuesday for my official diploma and transcript and I would be applying with ICA.

Seems like my plans are on track.

Once I get a job, I'd be a happy goober.

Anyway, since I'm so hooked onto Facebook quizzes, there was this quiz I took titled "Hey Minah, what kind of Mat should you be dating?". Apparently, this isn't the only quiz that the creater came up with. She left her livejournal web on this quiz result and after I read it, I instantly loved her entries.

Visit her here.

I'll keep that for a later post.

As of now, I am totally in love with this...

I WANT I WANT!!!!!!!!

To the superwoman in my life...

Dearest Mother,

On the special occasion of Mother's Day, I'd like to make it extra special to express my love for you.

Everyone might say that there's no need to wait for Mother's Day to express your gratitude and appreciation towards your mother. You should actually show it every single day.

However, I don't always remember to say "I love you" everyday to you. So Mother's Day is a day for me to remind myself how thankful I should be to have someone like you.

You are the superwoman in my life.
I can never understand how you can have the strength to cook, clean, shop, work and still not complain.
I was never deprived of your attention and time.
I was cared for and well attended to for the whole of my 19 years.

Thank you for being a superwoman in the family.
Thank you for your understanding to all my problems and worries.
Thank you for the countless advices that you've given me whenever I was down.
Thank you for cooking the meals everyday for the family.
Thank you for shopping and splurging on me.
Thank you for the time that you've taken to spend with me.
Thank you for caring and nurturing me for the past 19 years and still doing it.

Thank you for being my mother.
Thank you for being you.

I LOVE YOU!

Short KL Trip

I was over at KL during the weekends for a mother's day celebration. The trip was sponsored by my grandma. (heh.)

It was a free and easy trip. Only visited Masjid India for some shopping spree. It has been donkey years since I last visited KL. Not much difference though but I was just as excited about shopping there. LOL.

The night was filled with "glitz & glamour" with appearances by Rozita Che Wan, Nora Danish, Ekin (Mawi's wife) and the Malaysian Astronaut, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar.

This is Ekin. She has a waist the size of the height of a McChicken, literally. Basically its how you hold a normal burger. THATS HOW SMALL HER WAIST IS.

This is Rozita Che Wan. Frankly, I have no idea who she is. HAHA! But she is really vogue-licious for a mom. MILF! lol.

This is Dr Sheikh Muszaphar. The first Malaysian astronaut to the moon. HE IS REALLY CHARMING! When he came into the ballroom, I was literally in awe. The best part is, HE ISN'T MARRIED! heeeeeeeee.... :p

I didn't manage to snap a picture with the gorgeous Nora Danish. That is another pretty mom. I can't even believe she has a child.

That about wraps up my KL trip. It was a very short and simple trip just to get away from Singapore after a looonngg time.

All the pictures are up on my Facebook.

The Wedding

On 24th April 2009, Abg Zul and Kak Mardiana was happily solemnised. Everything went smoothly, with the exception of the weather being a total biatch. Sumpah it was very hot and the only thing that was in my mind is to be dipped in cold cold water.

The solemnisation took place at Teck Whye Lane. The bride and groom was clad in lovely white and the second outfit was gold.

The bride's outfit was so gorgeous and retro-ish. I LIKE!

On the 25th, it was preparations for the sanding day which was the next day. There was a mini performance planned for the bride and groom. A dance performance was put up by the little kids so it was practice time for them that day. It was my first time looking at the decor over at Hougang Ave 8. Very chantek!

On the 26th was the grand sanding. The bride and groom's first outfit was yellow gold. Very classic Malay songket. The usual stuff you see at Malay weddings... the people, the food very nice (Putri Catering), the decor, the kompang.

Not forgetting the VERY CUTE NAK MAMPOS flowergirls and the 2 very handsome and charming young "gentlemen"...

Ok back to the wedding...

At Teck Whye Lane, Blk 25... Kak Mardiana's side...

Back at Hougang...

Congrats to Abg Zul & Kak Mardiana on the new gelaran of Husband & Wife.
May your love last til eternity and Insyallah, the whole family would see Mini "Zul(s) & Mardiana(s)" in the near future. :)
