Now for the trip (Part 2, Paris)

My London part is done. So now for Paris....

10th June 2008

I had trouble packing my luggage the night before after shopping at Primark. What with all the extra clothes I brought along from home. My luggage was already heavy even before coming. So I had to sit, lie down and force my luggage to close. :P

So had an early morning, the usual breakfast and gathered outside the hotel with the luggages and proceeded to the coach to board Eurostar and make our way to Paris. It was a 2 hour train ride from London to Paris (Yes, only 2 hours).

After 2 hours, we were finally in Paris and was greeted with a super warm weather. It felt like it was in Singapore, the weather I mean. Other than that, Paris was splendid. The city environment, the wonderful architecture of the buildings, marvellous.

After a 1/2 hour wait for the coach, we were given a short and brief tour of Paris and I started snapping pictures like there wasn't any tomorrow. We were rushing for time because I've learnt that France has a law regarding the working hours of the people. Everyone can only work for 35 hours per week. No more, no less. On top of that, they could have MCs which could last for as long as 3 months.

So if you were in a middle of doing research for your work, and your 35 hours are up, and if it was only Wednesday, you just leave your work immediately, you're done for the week and off you go home and get the rest of the week off.

So fellow Singaporeans, LETS MIGRATE TO FRANCE! :P

Well anyway, back to my trip.

So had a short panaromic tower along the roads of Paris. Passed by the famous Arc De Triomphe that was located in the middle of the biggest roundabout. Oh and Paris's roundabouts are so scary. There are no lane markings and vehicles just come into and out of the roundabout with no signals. However, the monument was wonderful with all the detailed carvings on it.

After quick shots of Arc De Triomphe, we continued touring the rest of Paris on the coach. Some quick shots that I managed to take...

Of course, what's a visit to Paris without viewing the Eiffel Tower.

We dropped by a famous tourist spot where we got a whole view of Eiffel, top to bottom. At the spot, there were a few Negros selling Eiffel keychains, and Eiffel miniature models to people, mainly tourists. There, I received a rather nice compliment from one of them...

"Hello Madame. You want to buy 3 for 1 Euro?"
"No thanks."
"Where are you from Madame? US?"
At this point of time, I was so "kembang" already. Someone thought I was from the US. LOL!
"No. Do I look like I'm from the US?"
"You talk very good English."
CHEH-DEY-BAH! So anyone wants to learn how to talk English well? :P
"Oh thank you but I'm not from the US. I'm from Singapore."

Hahaaahahaha. That made my day. Well after rushing to to take quick shots of the Eiffel, went back up the coach and proceeded to Reuters Trading Centre in Paris. No biggie. Just a short presentation by the people there.

After that, it was time to check into the hostel.

This was kinda dramatic.

First impression, it didn't look very appealing. Nonetheless, it was a YOUTH hostel. So, I had a real good dose of gorgeous guys. :P

But when I got to the room, no wait. Nevermind the room. THE TOILET IS ALONG THE CORRIDOR! WE HAD TO SHARE TOILETS AND SHOWERS!

OMG!

And now the room. It was plain concrete. We had a sink and a mirror, a cupboard which looked like it's gona breath it's last breathe. We had to put on our own bedsheets and the blanket is so wooly and we had ventilation through a rather small window.

I didn't mind we had no tv, nor no aircon but WE HAD TO SHARE TOILETS! OMG!

Nevermind. So after placing the luggage, we headed for dinner at a nearby restaurant and dinner was soo soo much better in Paris. We had spaghetti with big chunks of veil meat. Super splendid. Veil is baby lamb and its white meat. So it was a first for me and for everyone else. It was real good and for dessert, had dark chocolate pie. HEAVENLY!

After dinner, we went on a mini cruise on the river where we passed by different monuments such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame and of course Eiffel tower and also a miniature version of the Statue of Liberty. Cool eh.

And again, we went public. Just look at the complexity of the train lines.

And now, it's picture time...

This is Notre Dame. Scary eh?

It was DISNEYLAND TIME! WOOOOHOOOOO!! All had recharged their systems just for this day. The long awaited visit to Paris Disneyland. It was so damn exciting.

We went public again and when we reached Disneyland... EUPHORIA!

Was so excited to go on all the rides. But all in all, Disneyland was da bomb! It was so dreamy, wishful and very fairytale like. The rollercoasters are hot. Nothing like the ones in Singapore. Did a bit more shopping for souvenirs for people back at home. So I'd just put up the pictures for y'all to see.

We managed to catch the parade where all the famous Disney stars appeared. The princesses, Toy Story, Lion King et cetera.

After a whole day of fun at Disneyland, headed over to Eiffel Tower for some really close up shots with the great piece of metal.

After Eiffel, it was then down to the last dinner for the whole trip. It was a great dinner. Chicken that tasted soo good with all the different spices. It tasted Mediterranean and wonderful Basmati Rice to go with it. To top it all off, scrumptious apple pie.

The last dinner

12th June 2008

This was the last day and the flight was scheduled at 1215 Paris time. We said goodbye to the wonderful tour guide for the whole trip, Mr Graham and then it was goodbye to Paris.

A really wonderful trip despite having to fall sick. Reached Singapore at 0700+ hours Singapore time on 13th June.

I wanna go some more can? :P
